Ilya’s new AI venture: OpenAI's co-founder and former chief scientist, Ilya Sutskever, announced on Wednesday that he is launching a new artificial intelligence company named Safe Superintelligence. The venture aims to create a secure AI environment amidst the competitive landscape of generative AI.

Safe Superintelligence, based in Palo Alto and Tel Aviv, is described on its website as an American firm dedicated to AI safety. Sutskever shared the news in a post on X, highlighting the company’s commitment to safety, security, and progress, free from short-term commercial pressures.

Joining Sutskever as co-founders are former OpenAI researcher Daniel Levy and Daniel Gross, co-founder of Cue and former AI lead at Apple.

Sutskever departed from Microsoft-backed OpenAI in May, following his significant involvement in CEO Sam Altman's firing and subsequent rehiring last November. Sutskever was removed from OpenAI’s board after Altman’s return.
