— Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met in Moscow on Wednesday to strengthen diplomatic cooperation amid rising regional challenges. The talks, held at the historic Zinaida Morozova’s Mansion, concluded with the signing of several agreements aimed at deepening political, economic, and security ties between the two nations.
Lavrov emphasized Russia’s commitment to supporting stability in the Middle East, particularly in Syria and Palestine, where Moscow continues to play a prominent role. He highlighted the importance of dialogue and multilateral efforts to address ongoing conflicts, stressing that Russia remains ready to work closely with Arab partners to ensure peace and security.
Safadi, for his part, underlined Jordan’s role as a stabilizing force in the region and praised Russia’s constructive engagement. He reiterated Amman’s concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the urgent need for international cooperation to revive peace talks. Both ministers also discussed energy cooperation, trade partnerships, and joint efforts to combat terrorism.
The signing ceremony symbolized a step forward in Moscow-Amman relations, reinforcing mutual trust at a time of shifting global alliances. Officials noted that the agreements would pave the way for closer coordination not only on regional issues but also in areas such as education, cultural exchange, and infrastructure development.
